Big Bucket Software you like to use
January 2nd, 2008

So it looks like I didn’t post in December. That’s a shame.

First of all, allow me to introduce the Turkey or Not Dashboard Widget. It’s a little Dashboard Widget that I developed a little while back for the lovely folks at The general concept is that you vote “Turkey”, “Not” or “Don’t Know” on movies that are displayed at random. Your vote is added to the total for that movie and will affect its ranking at the Turkey or Not website. Developing software for a client was a new experience and a lot of fun. I certainly hope to do it again some time.

Turkey or Not Dashboard Widget

Many of you will have noticed that the TV Forecast Web App now displays thumbnails beside most TV shows. Not only that, it can now be reached at Not a huge deal, but at least now it’s easier to type into your iPhones.

Aside from this, I’ve finally decided to dive into Cocoa development. It was enormously daunting at first, but I’m slowly learning and it’s becoming increasingly enjoyable. I have absolutely no estimate on when I expect to release my first Cocoa app; I’m very much in the experimentation stage at the moment. I have a few grand schemes of course, but time will tell which ideas hold water.

  • Sounds like you’ve been busy! Can’t wait to see what happens with the Cocoa experimentation 🙂

  • Can you make it so the “or” button shows the breakdown. Cuz I care more about the movies I haven’t seen. If you if Don’t know then you find 99% of the people love it, then you know to go watch it….

    nice work

  • I love the Turkey or Not widget. One feature I would like to see is the % Turkey even when you press “Don’t Know”. On some movies I have heard of, but haven’t seen, I find myself pressing one of the other 2 buttons just to see the final breakdown, which might distort the actual percentages if enough people do that. (Actually, I don’t do it very often but some people may do it all the time. You never know!)
    Thanks for a great widget.

@Dave @Tim – Fair points. Expect to see that feature in an update to be released shortly. Glad to see the widget has been well received.

  • I was happy to find TV Forecast as a web app on my iPod touch last night and went ahead and loaded up all my shows (about 30 or so). I just loaded it up today and all my shows are gone. I wondered how it was going to work without any kind of login. Can you tell me how to fix this if there’s a way.

@Ernio – Your TV Forecast shows are stored in a cookie. There is an article on the Apple that explains how to ensure that cookies are enabled. Good luck.
