February 1st, 2009

The TV Forecast dashboard widget has been updated to support the new redesign. Thanks everyone for all the kind words of encouragement.

TV Forecast dashboard widget is awesome. It looks great, it works great most of the time (except when changes its design). Thank you so much.

Thanks! I missed this so much!

  • Hi have you consider to insert the season and episode number, it will be easier for all, and maybe a selectable engine for example from just to help in that redisign cases. Great job and thanx for quick update

  • Thanks a lot. It makes it a lot easier to track 11 shows from outside the US. I also like Vanaediums idea of adding the S?E? info.

    Great work!

  • Hi Matt: Update works great. Thanks so much.

  • Awesome widget. Really appreciate the quick fix. My only request is that it could also list past episodes. Maybe an expandable tv show box. Or so what was on yesterday 🙂 Thanks again, and keep up that fantastic work 🙂

  • I would love it if TV Forecast had an Auto-Update function since it has become broken one too many times now and I can’t live without it.

  • Thank you so very, very much for the quick update to the widget. Even with the on-screen guide with my IPTV, I’ve been completely lost during the downtime.

  • Thanks for fixing the widget! It’s really great!

  • Thank you so much!

hey thanks for bringing this widget back. best widget ever!!!!

  • Richard — 8:11 am on 3.2.2009

@Jeff…click the link to get to the episode’s page, then you can either click “previous ep” or “ep list”. That’s probably way easier than having him add all that info to the widget. I think the widget is fine the way it is. Well, I do like Vanaedium’s idea of S#E# info too. That’s something small that adds good info but doesn’t change the core purpose of the widget.

  • Thank you soo much for fixing the widget. I have a hard time catching my shows when it’s working, without it I missed every single one, lol. Thanks again, best widget EVER!

  • @Richard – Never even thought of that – thanks for the tip 🙂 Awesome widget – can’t live without it.

  • Ever since the recent fix of TV Forecast, I’ve found that my widgets get “frozen” for a long time (20-30 seconds?) before I can interact with any of them. Anyone else having this problem?

  • @Mike – yes, I’ve just noticed that problem myself. Though, it isn’t *all* of my widgets that seem stuck: one or two are still alright while I wait.

I don’t know if it’s an issue with or around TV Forecast. But it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one experiencing it.

  • @mister.dymund – same here: now I know it’s not just my system. It’s kind of a pain; my dashboard is almost unusable now.

  • It would be great to have the preference in the widget of choosing a default city (instead of all defaults being NYC). That would be a great addition to everyone not living in NYC… Thanks for the widget!

  • Hey Matt,

    Just had a thought.

It would be great if you could add an option of “negative days”
ie: have an optional setting to leave aired shows up at the top for a specified period of days, where the show still is at the top of the list, but says “3 days ago” etc etc

Because sometimes I get too busy and an episode falls down to the bottom the list again, before I realise I’ve missed it.

    I hope that makes sense…

  • hi there,

the new widget does not work here. downloaded the new one and it says always “update available”. and my tv shows don’t load.

anyway thanks for the widget and for the iPhone-app! love’em.

  • susanna — 1:07 am on 27.2.2009

Why are some shows that are currently airing marked as TBA? What should i do?

  • The widget is down again as of 1:40 pm. Another redesign?

  • Wytse Slabbekoorn — 7:45 am on 28.2.2009

Same here. Hope it will be fixed as quick as the last time.

  • Yep its down for me as well, just displays nothing next to the show. At least its not lagging like it was before.
Hope you can get this fixed ASAP, and just a thought, perhaps you could do an .APP like the iPhone version that saves the info to your PC, so even if you don’t have internet you can still see what the last update was.
Also: you should really consider charging a small bit for TV Forecast, its a great program, and I think people would buy it.

  • its down for me as well

  • macerdoo — 7:32 am on 1.3.2009

Loved the widget but it just stopped working. Deleted and reinstall etc but to no avail.

    Wish I had it back.

  • If you hadn’t figured it out already, it’s dead again. Just like before the recent redesign, The Widget is uselessly displaying only TBA for anything.

  • Yeah here we go again, it’s broken. There is no info about this on Matt’s Twitter so maybe he didn’t notice yet.

Hopefully that Auto-Update function will be implemented in the next release…

  • also no go here

  • Why not use API as the source of information, instead of scraping I’d guess the API would be much more stable, requiring much less updates due to source changes, and as a plus, end users can themselves fix errors they spot by registering on the website, since it’s user-maintained…

I can help with implementing this in your widget if you’d like. I’ll probably do it for myself soon anyway.

my TV Forecast is just saying TDA on all my shows, wat should i do

  • It’s working fine except shows with next episodes on with “2010” as the only date information the Widgets says showing “Today,” which is slightly irritating.

  • for some reason everytime i log onto my computer my tv forecast has erased all the shows ive previously entered
its getting to be a pain the the but to re enter like 10 shows everytime i want to check
