The Incident: Getting Started
June 5th, 2010

The first level of The Incident begins with a short scene designed to help the player to figure out what the heck he or she is supposed to be doing. You may have seen it in the official trailer. Here’s how it works in the game:

The player gets control of Frank as soon as the jacket hits the floor. I hope that the combination of the flashing white bar and the ’tilt your iPhone’ animation indicate to that the player that Frank has to dodge. As you can see, the taxi will only land once Frank is safely out of the way. After that, the game begins!

  • OK, it’s official, I cannot wait for the incident to be released. The more I see of the game the more I want to play it.

One question, have you tried testing it on public transport. In several iPhone games using the accelerometer I have experienced a sub-par gaming experience when on the bus, I hope that’s not the case with The Incident since I would most likely play it during my commute.

  • Can’t wait for it. What’s the ETA? 🙂

  • @Jonas Well, like all accelerometer games, The Incident behaves differently when played inside a bus/car/spaceship. I’ve noticed that some games are humorously unplayable while others fare just fine. The Incident works fine. You might notice Frank drifting a little as the bus takes a sharp corner, but generally speaking, it won’t be a problem.

  • I am also with @ jonas. On the Tube train it is hard to use accel steering, and also you look like an idiot to other passengers 🙂

Anyway of adding a 2 directional thumb stick in the bottom left as an alternative control system option? With right thumb used as jump?

    When, oh when?

  • Hey! I’ve only been watching The Incident videos for like 10 minutes, and I am already blown away 😀 I think it’s a great concept and I love pixelated looks!

The only thing I don’t love is that it only seems to be schedule or intended for an iPhone release.

Won’t you make an Android version as well later? D:

  • is the game going to be made available for the android market as well or only the apple app store? I really want this and I think it’d be a shame if android users couldnt enjoy it as well. 🙁

  • @Bernardo @Krystle An Android version is highly unlikely; I’m just one guy and supporting multiple platforms isn’t something I’m likely to do any time soon. Sorry.
